Substance Use Among Individuals with Eating Disorders
Eating disorders and substance use disorders are common conditions that often present to primary care physicians, pediatricians, and behavioral health clinicians. Both conditions carry high morbidity and mortality rates and often require prompt evaluation and intervention to achieve optimal outcomes. This webinar will explore the interplay between substance use and substance use disorders in those patients with eating disorders. Information on how to appropriately screen, intervene, and initial treatment approaches will be discussed and resources will be provided.

Learning Objectives
- Identify the risk factors for the development of both substance use disorders and eating disorders.
- Describe the overlay between the addiction model found in individuals who have substance use disorder and those who have an eating disorder.
- Plan how to approach an evaluation and intervention for a patient who may present with both an eating disorder and substance use disorder.
